About Us: Serra Golf Classic

The Serra Golf Classic is one of Serra High School's most cherished annual events. Since its inception in 1987, the Junípero Serra Alumni Association has organized this beloved tournament, bringing together approximately 144 alumni and friends each year to compete for the coveted championship title. Originally held at Peninsula Golf Course, the event has grown over the years, moving to the stunning Half Moon Bay and, for the third consecutive year, being hosted at the prestigious TPC Harding Park Golf Course in San Francisco, home of the 2020 PGA Championship.

The Serra Golf Classic is not just about golf; it is a critical funding source for the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, providing essential financial assistance to deserving young men aspiring to receive a Serra education. Your participation and support as a sponsor, player, or donor directly contribute to meeting the growing needs of our families. This year, a portion of the proceeds will also fund the William P. Ahern Alumni Board Scholarship Award, benefiting an outgoing senior.

Last year, the tournament raised nearly $40,000, significantly impacting many young men by giving them the opportunity to become Padres. Join us in continuing this proud tradition and making a difference in the lives of Serra students. Thank you for being a part of the Serra Golf Classic and supporting our mission.

36th Annual Serra Golf Classic
Friday, September 20

The Serra Golf Classic is the primary funding source for the Alumni Association Scholarship Fund. It provides vital financial assistance to deserving young men who seek a Serra education. Your support of the Serra Golf Classic as a sponsor, player, or in-kind donor helps us meet the needs of our families who depend on tuition assistance. In addition to financial aid, a portion of the funds generated from the Serra Golf Classic support the William P. Ahern '71 Alumni Board Scholarship Award, which is given to an outgoing senior at the end of the school year to help support their first year of college tuition. The Serra Golf Classic is about more than winning a trophy, it is about community building and supporting the Padre Family. Last year’s tournament raised close to $40,000. Our goal for this year’s tournament at historic TPC Harding Park is to build on that success.

Constructed in 1925 by famed architects Willie Watson and Sam Whiting, TPC Harding Park is considered one of the country’s premiere municipal venues. Set against the cypress tree-lined Lake Merced, the improved Harding Park Course layout features soft bunkers and graceful undulating fairways. An additional 400 yards were also added to the course to make it a championship-caliber golf facility ready for PGA TOUR action.
